CYGNUS INSTRUMENTS
Founded in 1983, Cygnus pioneered the digital multiple echo technique. The technique has long since been the industry standard for accurate measurement of material thickness.
Driven by the need for a hand-held device, we successfully developed multiple echo digital thickness gauges which measure metal thickness through protective coatings in a reliable and repeatable way.
Cygnus gauges all use the multiple echo technique and are designed to be robust and simple to use. They are engineered to withstand the harshest environments.

CYGNUS DIVE
With its bright, very large, AMOLED display the Cygnus DIVE is simple to operate, providing accurate and reliable thickness measurements. Depth rated to 300 metres.
Available with data logging, topside, HelmetViewâ„¢ and twin crystal probe options.
MSIâ„¢ Measurement Stability Indicator - this is a feature exclusive to the Cygnus. When using the DIVE Gage in Single Echo mode, MSIâ„¢ confirms when a reading is stable by turning the thickness measurement numbers from red to yellow.
CYGSCOPE RD LEAK DETECTOR
A digital ultrasonic listening device, the CygScope RD enables simple and fast detection of leaks in industrial machinery by measuring ultrasound which is generated by gas and liquid leaks. Test results are displayed on the LED bar graph and are delivered audibly either via headphones or internal loudspeakers.
In addition, the CygScope RD has a digital LCD readout to allow comparative measurements to be taken for regular maintenance checks over given periods.
HATCH SURE LEAK DETECTOR
Cygnus Hatch Sure is an ultrasonic leak detector able to perform a quick and effective evaluation of cargo hold hatch covers and door seals to determine water leaks and weather tightness.
The system consists of a battery powered transmitter containing 19 ultrasound emitters (40 kHz). The emitters are arranged to produce an omni-directional sound field, uniformly distributed throughout the cargo hold.
The receiver part of the system displays the sound energy level that passes through gaps in the enclosed cargo hold to enable the location of leaks to be quickly and accurately identified.
ROV MOUNTED UT GAUGES
Specifically designed for underwater remote operated vehicles, Cygnus offer two dedicated ROV Mountable thickness gages, the M50ROV02K - 2,000 m depth rated, and the M5-ROV-4K - 4,000 m depth rated. These mountable measurement gages again benefit from the multiple-echo technology found in all our ultrasonic measuring devices. They are truly versatile and designed to measure metal thickness through coatings in the harshest operating conditions.
Completing the Cygnus Instruments ROV Mountable thickness gages, a range of ROV Probe Handlers have been developed to offer an engineered probe handling solution in the following area. Each probe handler will work with a thickness gage of the Cygnus ROV Mountable range.
